The first eight events on the schedule include the women’s 100 fly, men’s 400 free, women’s 200 IM, men’s 50 fly, women’s 400 free, men’s 100 breast and, finally, the women’s and men’s 400 free relays.

Katie Ledecky will make her championships debut in the women’s 400 free, while Adam Peaty highlights the field in the men’s 100 breast. Katinka Hosszu, sure to be a local favorite in Budapest, ranks first in the women’s 200 IM, and Sarah Sjostrom will defend her turf in her signature 100 fly.

Mack Horton and Sun Yang will renew their rivalry in the men’s 400 free, while the men’s 50 fly appears to be a wide-open affair, with Brazil’s Nicolas Santos seeded first. Finally, the Australian women and U.S. men will try to defend their Olympic gold medals in the 400 free relays.
