It will be a quick morning as three of the four individual events are only 50 meters in length. Sarah Sjostrom highlights the women’s 50 free with the only sub-24 second seed time at a 23.93. Ranomi Kromowidjojo and Pernille Blume are close behind with matching seed times of 24.07.

Justin Ress of the USA will make his World Championships debut as the top seed in the men’s 50 back prelims. He is entered with a 24.41, just .01 ahead of China’s Xu Jiayu’s 24.42. Camille Lacourt, Mitch Larkin, and Matt Grevers all enter the circle seeded heats.

Lilly King and Yulia Efimova will square up for one last battle as the two enter as the top two seeds in the women’s 50 breast. King sits first in the heat sheets with a 29.66 over Efimova’s 29.88.

The mixed relays will feature three heats of competition.

The session will conclude with four heats of the men’s 1500 free. Italians Gregorio Paltrinieri and Gabriele Detti are among the top seeds, plus Australia’s Mack Horton.
