The fourth preliminary session of the meet will feature the women’s 50 back, men’s 100 free, men’s 200 IM, women’s 200 fly, and the 400 mixed medley relay.

China’s Fu Yuanhui enters as the top seed in the women’s 50 back, but like with any 50-meter race, it will be anyone’s race. Fu will receive stiff competition from Brazil’s Etienne Mederios, Great Britain’s Georgia Davies, and the USA’s Olivia Smoliga.

The men’s 100 free has been painted as one of the exciting races of the week as it will feature a match-up between the USA’s Caeleb Dressel and Australia’s Kyle Chalmers. However, one should not count out Russia’s Vladimir Morozov or Great Britain’s Duncan Scott.

The USA’s Chase Kalisz will begin his quest to defend his 200 IM title in the preliminary session, but it won’t come easy. He will have to fend off Australia’s Mitch Larkin and Japan’s Daiya Seto in the process.

Another veteran swimmer on the quest to defend their World Championship title is Spain’s Mireia Belmonte. The Spaniard is considered to be one of Spain’s most decorated swimmers of all time.
