Gregg Troy, Dean Boxall to Coach Cali Condors of International Swimming League

The Cali Condors introduced its coaches for the inaugural International Swim League (ISL) set to kick off this October with Gregg Troy, Dean Boxall and Jeff Julian on staff. Troy will be the head coach while Boxall and Julian will be the assistants.

Troy coaches the pro group at Gator Swim Club in Gainesville, Florida as three of his athletes – Caeleb Dressel, Jan Switkowski and Mark Szaranek – are on the roster. Former Florida Gator Natalie Hinds is also on the roster although she trains with Jack Bauerle at Athens Bulldog Swim Club.

Boxall coaches the team at St. Peters Western in Australia, notably Ariarne Titmus, who surprised Katie Ledecky to win the 400 free at the World Championships this past summer. Titmus will be on the Condors roster this fall as well as World Champion Kylie Masse of Canada and Lilly King of the United States.

Boxall also coaches Condors team members Jack Cartwright and Mitch Larkin, who will be on the team that will compete in the first two ISL meets October 4-5 in Indianapolis and October 12-13 in Naples, Italy. The Condors will also compete with the other US-based teams November 15-17 in College Park, Maryland.

Julian is the assistant coach at the University of Southern California and was formerly the coach at Rose Bowl Aquatics, the former club of Condors general manager Jason Lezak.

It will be interesting to observe the dynamic between Condors swimmer Lilly King and Condors coach Dean Boxhall and his Australian swimmers given the recent suspension of one of Boxhall’s top swimmers for PED use.
