Greece’s Apostolos Christou Tops 100 Back Semis at Euros

Greece’s Apostolos Christou led the way in the men’s 100-meter back at the 2016 European Championships.

Christou clocked in with a time of 53.36 to move up to 12th in the world rankings this year.

Grigory Tarasevich of Russia posted a 53.70 for the second seed.  Tarasevich is ranked fifth in the world with a 53.03 from Russian Nationals.

Italy’s Simone Sabbioni qualified third with a time of 53.86, off his 10th-ranked 53.34 from the Italian Championships.

France’s Camille Lacourt clocked in fourth with a 54.09, well back of his third-ranked 52.97 from the French Championships.

Romania’s Robert Glinta (54.14), Israel’s Yakov Toumarkin (54.18), Hungary’s Gabor Balog (54.20) and Ireland’s Shane Ryan (54.39) also made the finals.
