Grand Valley State Coach Dewey Newsome Suffers Strokes
GRAND RAPIDS, Michigan, March 20. THE head coach of Grand Valley State University Dewey Newsome, 62, suffered a stroke Sunday night and was rushed to the Spectrum Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids, Mich., according to the College Swimming Coaches Association of America. A second stroke early yesterday morning left Newsome partially paralyzed on his right side and unable to speak
The Academic All-American Committee Chair for the CSCAA is currently in ICU undergoing evaluation. According to the CSCAA release, doctors have located a blood clot in his left temple and they are treating the clot. Newsome's wife, Lanna, has asked that friends and colleagues pray for his full recovery and that we all remain positive.
