Gardner-Webb, Liberty vs. VMI
LYNCHBURG, Virginia, November 6. THE Gardner-Webb women's swim team took on Liberty and VMI Saturday afternoon, with seven different members of the squad leading the Runnin' Bulldogs to wins in six of the eleven events to earn overall victories over both squads.
Action began with the 200 yard medley relay event, in which the team of Victoria Bryant, Kim Zachensky, Elizabeth Charter, and Anna Springer placed first, timing in at 1:51.43.
Both Bryant and Zachensky led the Runnin' Bulldogs in event victories with two each. Bryant placed first in the 100 yard backstroke event at 59.98 and Zachensky won the 100 yard breaststroke event with a time of 1:06.96.
The 1000 yard freestyle event was won by Elizabeth Ketterer, who touched the wall at 11:03.73.
Samantha Shelley placed first in the 200 yard IM event, timing in at 2:12.72.
Liz Van Halsema was victorious in the 500 yard freestyle event with a time of 5:20.82.
Gardner-Webb will next be in action at the 2010 Georgia Tech Invitational, taking place from Friday, November 19th through Sunday, November 21st in Atlanta, Ga.
