Gabriel Rooker Wins Four Times As Wyoming Tops Utah

The No. 24 ranked Utah men fell on Saturday to Wyoming by a score of 173-127.

The meet started with the 200-yard medley relay. Wyoming took the race with a time of 1:30.68. The Cowboy relay consisted of backstroker George Eglesfield, breaststroker Gabriel Rooker, butterflier Kyle White and freestyler Bryce Carter.

Utah’s first victory of the day came in the 1000-yard freestyle. Bence Kiraly brought home the win for the Utes with a time of 9:31.93.

Wyoming’s Slade Sheaffer picked up the 200-yard freestyle victory with a time of 1:41.77.

In the 100-yard backstroke, Utah’s Paul Ungur took home the win. He posted a time of 49.52.

Rooker picked up his second victory of the day in the 100-yard breaststroke. He posted a winning time of 54.68.

Kiraly picked up his second victory for Utah in the 200-yard butterfly. Kiraly won with a time of 1:48.77, beating the second place finisher by nearly two seconds.

After swimming the freestyle leg of the Cowboys’ winning medley relay, Carter picked up a win in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 20.70. He also won the 100-yard freestyle in 46.54, his third win of the day.

Wyoming’s Ryan Ball won the 200-yard backstroke in 1:49.16. Rooker picked up his third win of the day in the 200-yard breaststroke, posting a time of 2:02.05.

Kiraly’s third victory of the day came in the 500-yard freestyle. He posted a time of 4:40.41.

Ungur earned his second victory of the day for the Utes in the 100-yard butterfly. He posted a time of 50.66.

Wyoming’s Ryan Nelson took the 200-yard individual medley title. Nelson posted a time of 1:53.30.

Wyoming capped off their strong day with a win in the 400-yard freestyle relay. Their team consisted of White, Rooker, Liam Metzsch and Carter. The Cowboys posted a time of 3:03.71, winning by over a second. The event marked Carter and Rooker’s fourth wins of the day.
