Full Entries for Asian Games; 13-Year-old Yu Zidi Entered in Three Events

The Asian Games are scheduled to get underway on Saturday night (Sunday morning in Tokyo) and will run through Friday, with many of the big names in the sport scheduled to compete. For China, Zhang Zhanshuo is entered in the 100-meter freestyle through the 1500 freestyle, while 13-year-old star Yu Zidi is slated to compete in the 200 butterfly, 200 individual medley and 400 individual medley.

For Japan, Tomoyuki Matsushita will look to maintain the momentum he generated last month at the Pan Pacific Championships. Matsushita was the gold medalist in Southern California in the 200 IM and 400 IM, and is scheduled to contest those events at the Tokyo Aquatics Centre. Matsushita is also entered in the 200 butterfly. Meanwhile, teenage standouts Yumeki Kojima (200 IM/400 IM) and Shin Ohashi (100 breaststroke/200 breaststroke) will give a look at the future for Japan.

Four-time Olympic champion Siobhan Haughey of Hong Kong is entered in the 50 freestyle, 100 freestyle and 200 freestyle. Haughey was the gold medalist in the 100 free and 200 free at the last edition of the Asian Games (2023), and also claimed the silver medal in the 50 freestyle.

The Asian Games will utilize a prelims-finals format, rather than include semifinals.
