Marcelo Ohno-Machado has committed to swim for Brandeis University. The senior attends Torrey Pines High School and swims for North Coast Aquatics in San Diego, CA.
Ohno-Machado is a freestyler with best times of:
- 50 Free 22.77
- 100 Free 49.31
- 200 Free 1:46.46
- 500 Free 4:51.11
Ohno-Machado explained his decision, “I choose Brandeis because of its stellar academics, great team atmosphere, excellent coaches, and awesome location close to Boston.”
Brandeis is a Division III school and competes in the UAA conference. At this year’s conference championship the Judges’ 400 freestyle A relay splits ranged from 47.24 to 49.59, putting Ohno-Machado in range to earn a relay spot. While the Brandeis 800 freestyle relay was disqualified in 2017, Ohno-Machado would have posted the team’s fastest split.
