LANCASTER – Franklin & Marshall swimming swept McDaniel College this weekend in a Centennial Conference matchup.

LANCASTER, Pa. – Four different Franklin & Marshall swimmers earned a first-place victory as the Diplomats cruised past McDaniel 104-69 on Friday evening in Centennial Conference (CC) men’s swimming action. F&M improved to 3-2, 2-1 CC, while the Green Terror slipped to 0-7, 0-5 CC.

The night began with a win when Andreas Lair Ferrari, William Cappuccio, Richard Perry, and Ryan Caffrey won the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:41.79. Dennis Chen touched first in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 22.88, while Caffrey finished in second at 23.07.

David Burton won the 200-yard freestyle at 1:49.71, followed closely by Perry at 1:49.86. Burton took home first place points again, this time in the 100-yard butterfly (55.14).

In the 100-yard backstroke, Denton placed first at 57.02, while Lair Ferrari dominated the 500-yard freestyle, finishing first at 4:51.23.

F&M continues CC action tomorrow when the Diplomats travel to Collegeville, Pa. for a 1:00 p.m. meet with Ursinus.

LANCASTER, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall totaled seven first-place finishes en route to a 99-78 victory over McDaniel on Friday evening in Centennial Conference (CC) women’s swimming action. The No. 24 Diplomats improved to 5-1, 4-0 CC, while the Green Terror fell to 0-8, 0-4 CC.

In the latest CSCAA (College Swimming Coaches Association of America) rankings, F&M jumped to No. 24 in the country, the first time the Diplomats have been ranked since a No. 25 spot in 2007. F&M is the only CC school represented in the top-25. The CSCAA’s top-25 can be viewed by clicking here.

The Diplomats started the evening on the right foot, as a team of Kellen McDonald, Melissa Mullin, Courtney Collins, and Jillian Albus won the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:54.71.

Leeza Rojas touched first in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:01.79 and closely behind was Collins in second at 2:02.31. Collins added a second-place finish in the 100-yard butterfly (1:02.80) as well. In the following race, the 50-yard freestyle, Albus won the event, touching at 25.50.

In the 400-yard individual medley, Mullin won the third consecutive race for F&M with a time of 4:44.53, and Jane Posner finished third at 5:14.11.

The first place finishes kept coming for the Diplomats, as Dromerick won the 100-yard freestyle (56.44), followed by a win from McDonald in the 100-yard backstroke (1:03.01) and a victory by Mary Ann Robison in the 500-yard freestyle (5:28.10).

F&M continues CC action tomorrow when the Diplomats travel to Collegeville, Pa. for a 1:00 p.m. meet with Ursinus.

LANCASTER, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall won six of the first eight events en route to a 104-69 win over McDaniel in Centennial Conference men’s swimming action on Friday.

Brad Brooks (Newark, Del./Charter School of Wilmington) led the Green Terror (0-7, 0-5 CC) with three wins, including hitting his first NCAA Division III B-Cut time of the season. He won the 400 IM in a time of 4:07.21 to hit the standard. Brooks also touched first in the 100 free with a time of 48.23 seconds and led off the winning 200 free relay.

Logan Linden (Millville, Del./Indian River), Adam Halmy and Stevie Hoyt (Glastonbury, Conn./Glastonbury) joined Brooks on the relay, which finished with a time of 1:31.20. The time was the best turned in by any McDaniel 200 free relay this season and ranks 10th all-time.

David Burton led the Diplomats (3-2, 2-1 CC) with two individual wins, touching first in the 200 free (1:49.71) and 100 butterfly (55.14 seconds).

Garrett Merlino (Gaithersburg, Md./Damascus) won the 100 breaststroke with a season-best time of 1:08.01.

Justin Allen (Ashburn, Va./Broad Run) placed second in the 100 fly with a time of 55.76 seconds, which ranks 10th on the program’s all-time list.

Hoyt finished second in the 100 backstroke with a time of 57.41. He was also third in the 200 free with a season-best time of 1:49.97.

The Green Terror returns to action at Elizabethtown on Wednesday. Meet time is 6 p.m.

Syd Knadler (Crowley Lake, Calif./Mammoth) notched the lone win over the first eight events for the Green Terror (0-8, 0-5 CC), touching first in the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:01.97.

Three swimmers won twice for the 24th-ranked Diplomats (5-1, 4-0 CC), including all as part of the 200 medley relay, which opened the meet with a win a time of 1:54.71. Kellen McDonald also won the 100 backstroke (1:03.01) while Melissa Mullin won the 400 IM (4:44.53) and Jullian Albus touched first int eh 50 free (25.50 seconds). Courtney Collins rounded out the quartet.

Juliann Rossi (Marriottsville, Md./McDonogh) also won the 100 breaststroke for McDaniel with a season-best time of 1:13.83.

Shannon McClellan (Boonsboro, Md./Boonsboro), Lexie Jacobs (Forest Hill, Md./North Harford), Kerrin Holmes (Avondale, Pa./Avon Grove) and Samantha Smith (APO, AP, Thailand/International School of Bangkok) combined to turn in a time of 1:45.60 to win the 200 free relay.

Jacobs was second in the 500 free, turning in the best time by a Green Terror swimmer this season, clocking a time of 5:30.86. Jacobs was also second in the 400 IM (4:47.74).

Smith was third in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:03.51, which was the fastest McDaniel time this season and ranks 10th all-time.

McClellan added a third-place finish in the 200 free with a season-best time of 2:03.80.

Knadler was right behind Rossi in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:14.90.

Maddie Gamble (Colora, Md./Rising Sun) finished second in the 50 free (26.48 seconds) and third in the 100 free (57.30).

The Green Terror returns to action at Elizabethtown on Wednesday. Meet time is 6 p.m.
