The 2015 Open Luxembourg Swimming Nationals concluded with three women’s meet records and one mixed-relay record being broken. Monique Olivier, Sarah Vasey and Charlotte Evans all set individual records on night two of the meet.

The combination of Nelly Velthuijs, Tom Donker, Marij Van Der Mast and Steven Nonnekes also broke a meet record in the mixed 400 freestyle relay with a time of 3:42.48.

Olivier dominated the 800 freestyle with a time of 8:50.99. The race was close through the 400 meter mark with Great Britain’s Georgia Darwent and Isobel Griffiths. Olivier swam a fast third 200 to make her way out front in meet-record fashion.

Breaststroke star Vasey re-broke her 50 breaststroke meet record which she set going out in the 100 on the first night of competition. She bested her time of 32.57 with a 31.35 in the finals. She was over three seconds ahead of her closest competitor.

Evans’ record came in the 100 backstroke, where she broke Sarah Rolko‘s meet record of 1:03.35. Evans was second at the 50, but came back to swim a 1:03.04 and out-swim Eliza Duffy (1:04.07).

On the men’s side of these three races, Laurent Carnol took the 50 breaststroke (28.46) over Christopher Steeples (28.85). Jean-Francois Schneiders lead the men’s 100 backstroke from start to finish, swimming a 57.90. He was followed by Max Mannes in 59.53 seconds. The men’s Olympic distance event went to Pol Mannes of Swimming Luxembourg. He was 13 seconds ahead of his closest competitor, winning with a time of 17:26.66.

Finals were also held for five other events on day two, starting with the men’s and women’s 200 IM. Arjan Knipping doubled up his IM victories for the weekend taking the 200 IM in 2:05.79. His strong back half of the IM secured him the victory in this event. While it was within a second at the 100 with many competitors, Knipping ended up taking the event by seven seconds. Candice Hall won the women’s 200 IM in 2:19.67. She dominated the race in similar fashion to Knipping.

Pit Brandenburger won a close match up in the men’s 200 free with a 1:54.27 just ahead of Schneiders who swam a 1:54.76. Both Schneiders and Julien Henx were ahead of Brandenburger at the 100, but neither could hold on for the win.

Olivier added another win to her tally in the women’s 200 freestyle. She won the event by four seconds in 2:03.39. She was followed by Darwent (2:07.24) and Velthuijs (2:07.55). Griffiths was fourth in 2:08.57.

Nyls Korstanje beat pool record holder Henx to the wall in the men’s 50 freestyle. Their times were 23.39 and 23.59, respectively. In the women’s race, the pool record holder prevailed as Julie Meynen claimed victory in 25.92. She was the only swimmer to break 26 seconds.

Carnol took another breaststroke race winning the 200 in 2:14.65. Just off his meet record, Carnol won the event by over six seconds. Niamh Hofland had a tougher time winning the women’s 200 breaststroke, as she chased down Storm Willemsen to get the win. Hofland went 2:46.72 to get the gold, while Willemsen swam a 2:46.94.

Donker took the men’s 100 fly in 56.94, while Hall took the women’s event in 1:02.89. Both swimmers started fast and kept their leads through the finish.
