Foster Brothers Talk Side-by-Side Racing in 400 IM (VIDEO INTERVIEW)
The Foster brothers, Carson Foster and Jake Foster, swam side-by-side in the finals of the men’s 400 IM on night three of the 2019 Phillips 66 U.S. National Championships. The two have different strokes that are their strengths and they discussed how they use each other’s strengths to push them forward in races. In the end, Bobby Finke pulled ahead of Carson on the freestyle leg to claim the gold, but Carson was okay with that. He claimed that encouraged him to push himself harder and faster, which resulted in a new World Junior Record.
Prior to the Junior World Championships, Carson will have to say goodbye to his older brother Jake as he heads off to college and he mentioned that he’s not looking forward to that. But he is definitely looking forward to the Junior World Championships. Carson will head off to compete in the Junior World Championships, while Carson is too old and will head down to Texas to begin training with his new team.
Both brothers spoke very positively about the junior level and how supportive the athletes are of each other. They mentioned how inspiring it has been to see fellow young athletes like Regan Smith and Luca Urlando doing well and pushing/breaking boundaries on large stages.
