Raleigh area swim coach Nicholas (Nick) Walkotten has been charged with a statutory sex offense with a child under the age of 15 and indecent liberties with a child, according to multiple Raleigh, North Carolina area news outlets.

According to the arrest warrant, the incidents took place on-or-between June 1 and August 1.

According to Wral.com, Walkotten coached on a volunteer basis at the Eagle Ridge Swim Team this summer, and hosted a diving clinic for the team on June 2. He was also a coach with the Marlins of Raleigh. Walkotten’s coaching biography has been removed from the Marlins’ site. Cbs17.com reports that he was fired on August 2.

Prior to his time at MOR (which began in August 2015 according to his Linkedin account) Walkotten spent a season coaching at UNC-Wilmington. Before his stint at UNC-W Walkotten had coached at the YMCA of the Triangle Area for four years.

Walkotten is being held under $2 million bond and is scheduled for a court appearance on Friday.

The information you received from WRAL about Eagle Ridge is incorrect and misleading. Nick was a full-time coach at Marlins of Raleigh (MOR), but he has nothing to do with Eagle Ridge Swim Team (ERST). On August 2nd MOR sent one of his coaches to ERST for a diving clinic, and they sent Nick. He was there probably no longer than an hour and that is all his relationship with ERST. This article makes it look like Nick was an ERST coach first and “also” (like a 2nd job) a MOR coach. Again, he never worked or acted as a volunteer coach for ERST.
On top of that, you have placed a link to the ERST webpage, where there are pictures of our kinds, without authorization. I don’t think this is something that a trusted source for news” would do, and it is very misleading. You must correct this information and remove the link to ERST as soon as possible. Thanks.
