Florida State Reveals Golden Nole Award Night Video

Florida State’s swimming and diving team won the Best Team Video at the Golden Nole Awards last night in Tallahassee. This video was produced by FSU swimmer Ian Apple.

Roberto Aguayo of the national semifinalist football team, Isabella Schmid of the national champion women’s soccer team, Ivey Slaughter of the women’s basketball team that advanced to the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament and eight-time All-American Colleen Quigley of the nationally ranked women’s cross country team are among 22 Seminole student-athletes who were presented with individual awards for their respective sports at the 21st Annual Golden Nole Banquet in the Grand Ballroom at the University Center on the Florida State campus.

The Golden Nole is presented annually to the student-athlete in each sport who has exhibited the ideals of intercollegiate athletics during their careers. The student-athletes are selected by the head coaches of each sport utilizing the criteria of academic and athletic success as well as each student’s contributions to the university and the community.  The event is hosted annually by the Student Athlete Advisory Council and the Office of Student Services.

“The Golden Nole Awards banquet is our signature event of the year,” said Dr. John Lata the Assistant Director of Athletics for Student Services.  “All of our student-athletes are outstanding men and women in everything they do both in the class room and on their respective playing fields and courts.  This banquet is a special way for us recognize their efforts from the past year and to celebrate their achievements.”

In addition to 22 Golden Nole Awards, special awards are presented to exemplary student-athletes throughout the evening.  Those awards include the Doc Fauls Award (to the seniors who have overcome adversity to compete for Florida State), the Jason Evans Memorial Scholarship (presented to exceptional students in athletic training) and the ACC Top Six For Service Awards (given to the top community service contributors).  Florida State’s student-athletes contributed more than 5,000 hours of community service with 16 teams completing more than 300 hours each.
