University of Florida’s men’s and women’s swimming & diving head coach Gregg Troy, who has led the Gators to a national title and seven conference titles, received a contract extension through June of 2020, as Athletics Director Scott Stricklin announced on Friday.

Coming into the 2017-18 season, Troy enters his 20th year at the helm of the women’s program and 19th as the leader of the men’s squad. In that time, he boasts a combined record of 305-96-1 in dual meets, good for a .760 winning percentage.

“I am thrilled by the tremendous commitment this university has to our student-athletes,” Troy said. “We have a great group of Olympic-level athletes that I am excited to train for the 2020 Olympics.”

Over the course of his tenure at Florida, Troy has guided the Gators to 37 individual national titles, 168 SEC event titles, more than 400 SEC Academic Honor Roll selections and close to 1,000 All-America honors. This past July, he added another accolade to his list of accomplishments, serving as an assistant coach for Team USA at the 17th FINA World Championships.

During his career at both Florida and The Bolles School, Troy has tutored over 90 Olympians. Since the 2000 Olympic Games, Gators have won 29 medals, including 14 golds under his direction.

“It has been an incredible 20 years at Florida and we have a great group of athletes that I am ecstatic to continue coaching,” said Troy.

Coach Troy and the Gators are set to kick off the 2017-18 season on Sept. 22, when they host the annual All-Florida Invitational.
