FLASH! Italy Sets World Record Of 3:02.75 In Men’s 4×100 Freestyle Relay at World Championships

Italy set a world record of 3:02.75 in the men’s 4x100m freestyle relay final at the World Short-Course Championships in Melbourne.

The quartet of Alessandro Miressi, Paolo Conte Bonin, Leonardo Deplano and Thomas Ceccon led throughout and stopped the clock 0.28secs inside the previous WR of 3:03.03 set by the United States in Hangzhou in 2018.

It also sliced 0.36 off the European mark of 3:03.11 set by Russia four years ago in Hangzhou.

Splits:

Miressi: 10.45/22.06/34.04/46.15

Conte Bonin: 10.17/21.90/33.90/45.93

Deplano: 9.84/21.33/33.51/45.54

Ceccon: 9.78/21.33/33.13/45.13

Kyle Chalmers swam the only sub-45 split of the field in 44.98, to propel Australia past the United States into silver in an Oceania record of 3.04.63.

The USA were third in 3:05.09.
