FLASH! Gretchen Walsh Lowers Own WR In 100IM

Gretchen Walsh lowered her 100IM world record to 55.71 in the semis at short-course worlds in Budapest.

The USA swimmer posted 56.06 in prelims, the second swiftest all-time and 0.08 off the global standard she set in October 2024.

The two-time Olympic relay champion returned to the Duna Arena for the semifinals where she took 0.27 off her own WR.

It was Walsh’s third individual world record in as many days.

USA teammate Kate Douglass will be in lane five alongside Walsh after clocking 56.88 with Mary-Sophie Harvey of Canada third through in 57.19.

Rebecca Meder of South Africa set an African record of 57.69 as she progressed fourth into the final. Sydney Pickrem claimed the eighth and final spot in 58.47.
