Filippi, Colbertaldo Win Distance Events to Open Italian Swimming Championships

LIVORNO, Italy, December 14. ALESSIA Filippi and Federico Colbertaldo won the women's 800 and men's 1500 freestyle events, respectively, at the Italian Swimming Championships held in Livorno, Italy on Dec. 14. The long course event will run through Dec. 16.

Women's 800 Freestyle
Alessia Filippi started off the meet right with a win when she stopped the clock in 8:31.54. Elisa Pasini placed second in 8:53.15, while Martina Grimaldi took third in 8:54.11.

Men's 1500 Freestyle
Federico Colbertaldo outlasted Gabriele Zancanaro in the men's metric mile. Colbertaldo took gold in 15:13.82, while Zancanaro scored silver in 15:16.07. Christian Minotti rounded out the top three in 15:27.39.
