Felipe Lima, Michael Andrew Trade 50 Breast Pro Swim Series Records in Des Moines
Nearly sixty seconds after Michael Andrew broke the Pro Swim Series record in the 50 breast on Friday morning in Des Moines, 33-year-old Felipe Lima broke the record in the next heat with a 26.97. Andrew previously broke the record with a 27.17, lowering Nic Fink’s 27.34 from Knoxville earlier this year.
Lima is now ranked second in the world rankings for 2019 as world record holder Adam Peaty is on top at 26.74. Lima is the only other swimmer under 27 seconds as Andrew has moved up to fourth behind Italian Nicolo Martinenghi.
Former record holder Nic Fink is sitting in third this morning with a 27.57 as he is just ahead of fellow Bulldog Andrew Wilson (27.63).
A couple SEC grads are in fifth and sixth as Peter Stevens (27.94) and Caeleb Dressel (28.00) are in the final.
Great Britain’s James Wilby (28.06) and Mexico’s Miguel De Lara Ojeda (28.08) also qualified for the final.
