Day two of the Doha stop of the 2016 FINA World Cup Series continued with many swimmers setting themselves up to defend their titles from the Dubai stop of the series.

Felipe Lima and Vladimir Morozov will square off again in finals of the men’s 100 breaststroke. Lima returns as the first place seed with a 1:00.11, while Morozov is second with a 1:00.47. Marco Koch sits close behind with a 1:00.54.

Morozov also returns in the 50 free (21.74) where he will look for his sixth consecutive win for the 2016 FINA World Cup Series. Bradley Tandy returns as the top seed with a 21.67.

Jeanette Ottesen will look to defend her crown in finals of the women’s 100 free. Ottesen qualified first with a 53.66, followed by a close qualification of 53.69 from Katinka Hosszu.

Additionally, Ottesen claimed a first place seed in the women’s 50 fly with a time of 26.44.

Perhaps a first for Hosszu in the World Cup Series, the Hungarian Olympian will not be returning as the top seed in any of her events for finals. In addition to her second-place seed in the 100 free Hosszu qualified second in both the 100 back (1:01.33) and 100 IM (1:01.36). She also returns as the third-place seed in the 50 fly (26.75).

Daryna Zevina and Yulia Efimova will look to add a gold medal each to their collections with the top seeds in the 100 back (59.09) and 100 IM (59.91) respectively.

Belgium’s Pieter Timmers and Uzbekistan’s Aleksey Tarasenko delivered times of 1:48.23 and 1:48.55 to qualify as the first and second place seeds in the men’s 200 free.

Takeshi Kawamoto leads a strong butterfly contingent into finals of the 100-meter race with a qualifying time of 52.39. Joining him in the final will be Chun Nam Derick NG (52.55), James Guy (52.64), Chad le Clos (52.65), and Josh Prenot (52.86).

Kawamoto also posted the second fastest time of the morning in the men’s back (25.36), behind Miguel Ortiz-Canavate (25.19).

The men’s 200 IM final will be highlighted by Omar Pinzon Garcia, who posted the only sub-two minute swim of the morning at a 1:58.72, along with Seto (2:01.31) and Prenot (2:02.85).
