Learn the best technique and body mechanics from top college coaches and athletes at the Carolina Swim Camps, located at the University of North Carolina! We offer several camp options, from day to overnight experiences. Our highly experienced camp coaches and staff love interacting with developing swimmers at these camps.

Day camps are designed to focus solely on starts, turns, relay exchanges, and underwater work.  We video and focus on the details that often get glossed over.  This is dedicated time to breakdown and review the skills that make your swims faster.

Technical and Training Camps focus on training swimmers’ energy systems for success in summer swimming as well as developing and enhancing the training and racing skills of competitive swimmers.  This is a combined technique and training camp that will have three main training groups: one for distance oriented swimmers, one for middle distance stroke/IM swimmers and one for sprinters.  Each group will train the needs for the distance of events in that group.

Overnight campers are housed in UNC close to Koury Natatorium, in Hinton James Dorn. The dorm is arranged in suites.

Every camper will receive a Carolina Swim Camp T-Shirt, Carolina Swim Camp Latex swim cap, Carolina Swim Camp Lanyard, Gatorade Water Bottle.  Both Technique and Elite campers will be filmed and will be provided feedback from a UNC Swim Coach.

Overnight campers are housed in UNC close to Koury Natatorium, in Hinton James Dorn. The dorm is arranged in suites. Each suites is comprised of  four rooms with two beds each and all four rooms sharing a bathroom. Each room houses two campers and each suite houses 8 campers.  Male and female campers are housed on separate floors withing the dorm with a counselor of the same gender on that floor. Our dorms are locked 24/7 with staffed security and our coaches and counselors are supervising the campers 24/7.

Campers are more than welcome to request a specific roommate. Please indicate the camper that your athlete would like to room with in the notes section of your registration.

Transportation: Transportation from and to the RDU airport is provided for a fee of $40.00 round trip and $20.00 one way.  Parents will need to provide Duncan Sherrard (duncanms@email.unc.edu) with the camper’s flight itinerary approximately two (2) weeks prior to the campers arrival.  Christy will provide the parents with the contact info and a picture of the staff member who will be providing the transport.

Parking, Dropping Off, and Picking Up: Parking is extremely limited on campus.  On registration days, when checking in for camp, you may park in the lot directly across the street from Koury Natatorium.  When checking into the dorm, parking is available at Hinton James Dorm.  Additional parking is available at Craig Deck just off of Manning Drive.

During the week, commuter camper parents are asked to park in the lot across from Koury Natatorium and walk their child into the pool.  At the end of the day, we will have staff members waiting with the campers in the pool until parents arrive.

Parking on the Camp Check Out days (at the conclusion of camp) will be available at the Ram’s Parking Deck next to the Football Stadium.  This lot is approximately ½ mile from Koury Natatorium.

One of the nation’s top collegiate coaches, Rich DeSelm is now in his ninth year as the head swimming coach at the University of North Carolina after serving for one year as the chief assistant and head coach designate under former mentor Frank Comfort. Every year, DeSelm is leading his alma mater to new heights in the swimming pool and the classroom. DeSelm was named a U.S. Swimming National Team coach for the calendar year 2014, the highest honor U.S. Swimming can bestow on a coach.

The program has made great strides under DeSelm’s tutelage in the past eight years.  DeSelm had been a highly successful head coach at Davidson College and a long-time assistant at perennial Top 10 program Florida before he assumed the full-time head coaching duties at Carolina on July 1, 2007.
