Rick SimpsonGet ready for a fun-filled, informative swim camp experience with hands-on feedback from qualified staff and head coach Rick Simpson himself at the Villanova Wildcat Swim Camp. Villanova offers a Distance Training Camp with overnight and day-camp options as well as a Four Stroke Technique Day Camp.

Each summer, the Villanova Coaching staff welcomes the opportunity to develop future champions. The Wildcat Swim Camp staff is committed to not only building great young athletes, but also to building confident young swimmers who will consistently strive to reach his or her maximum potential. Hard work is only part of the process. To achieve great success, the athlete must focus on all aspects of personal development. The Wildcat Swim Camp will provide you with that necessary direction.

General Camp Information

Video Analysis: Each daily lecture will consist of video analysis of each component of the stroke including the start, turns and finish. Furthermore, video footage captured of the campers will be used in lecture to constructively critique the technical aspects of the race including fundamentals and race strategy. Footage will be taken above and below the surface of the water.

Camp Features

  • Direct coaching and instruction by Villanova Head Coach Rick Simpson and the Villanova staff.
  • Daily critique of both professional video and video of campers. All aspects of the race including starts, turns, finishes and stroke will be analyzed on a daily basis.
  • Nutritional Seminars.
  • Mental Training and Sports Psychology seminars.
  • Small group instruction and coaching.
  • Lunch each day in the campus dining hall.

Distance Training Camp

Dates: June 25-29, 2018 (Day Camp and Overnight Options)

Villanova Swimming prides itself on its long history of excellence in the distance events. Villanova athletes have experienced great success in the distance events including several back to back conference champions, record holders, NCAA qualifiers and Olympians from several nations. Now you can spend a week in the Villanova “D-Group”!

Distance Camp Schedule & Details

  • 2 in-pool training sessions. Each Session will be directed by Coach Simpson personally.
  • Dryland program- The same detailed program used at Villanova daily.
  • Lunch break- Provided in the Villanova Dining Hall.
  • Guest lectures and technical meetings covering areas such as race strategies and pacing, nutrition, health management in a high-volume program, stroke technique, etc.
  • Day camp hours will run — Mon–Thurs. 9:00AM-4:00 PM- Friday 9:00AM-12:00 NOON.
  • Overnight campers will reside in the dormitories on the Campus of Villanova University. Coaches, counselors and the camp dormitory director will reside in the dorms to provide first rate supervision and a safe and productive environment. All meals will be served in the campus dining hall.
  • Campers should arrive equipped with the following: Paddles, Pull Buoy, Training Snorkel, Fins.

Four Stroke Technique Camp

Dates: July 9-13, 2018 (Day Camp Only)

Each week, the Villanova coaching staff, as well as other visiting college coaches, will focus on all aspects of competitive swimming. Each week will consist of videotaping and review using the Fastlane system by Endless pools. The camper will be exposed to a variety of topics such as stroke technique, training methods, strength training, nutrition, and sports psychology. Each week will conclude with the Blue/White swim meet on Friday.

Lunch in the student dining hall is included on Mon.-Thurs. of each camp week.

  • Mon-Thursday 9:00AM-4:00 PM
  • Friday 9:00AM-12:00pm
