Emma McKeon Powers to 100 Fly Australian National Record

Emma McKeon powered to a new Australian National Record in the finals of the women’s 100 fly at night two of the 2017 FINA World Championships.

McKeon delivered a final time of 56.18 to win the silver medal and lowered the previous Australian National Record of 56.23. That record was originally set at the 2009 FINA World Championships in Rome by Aussie Jessica Schipper, before McKeon matched it in semi-finals of the women’s 100 fly.

McKeon’s splits:

  • McKeon (2017): 26.34, 29.84 = 56.18

Her time marks her as the fourth fastest performer in history behind Sarah Sjostrom (55.48), Dana Vollmer (55.98), and Liu Zige (56.07).
