Washington College head men’s and women’s swim coach Matt Harris has announced the hiring of Emily Rollo as the teams’ new assistant coach. Rollo was a standout swimmer at Washington and Lee University.

While at W&L, Rollo was a seven-time All-American and 18-time Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Champion. She qualified for the NCAA Division III Championships as a sophomore, junior, and senior, placing as high as fifth in the nation in both the 100- and 200-yard backstrokes. She was twice named the ODAC Swimmer of the Year (2015 and 2017) and was tabbed as her team’s Most Valuable Swimmer three straight years. She finished her career as the school record-holder in the 100 backstroke, 200 backstroke, and 200 individual medley and as a part of the school-record 200 and 400 medley relay teams.

“Emily brings a wealth of competitive experience from a very strong, Division III swim team in Washington and Lee,” Harris states. “The team she helped build around her throughout her career is a testament to her leadership abilities and we are excited for her to bring a new perspective to our teams as we enter the 2017-2018 campaign.”

Rollo spent the past two summers as the head swim coach at Woodcrest Swim Club in Cherry Hill, N.J. She swam scholastically for Haddonfield (N.J.) Memorial High School and the Jersey Wahoos Swim Club.

Rollo graduated from Washington and Lee with a B.A. in Economics and a minor in Latin American and Caribbean Studies in May 2017. She was a W&L Scholar-Athlete recipient during her junior and senior season.
