Florida Gulf Coast’s Elise Haan announced her decision to transfer to NC State University this afternoon. The rising sophomore was an All-American honorable mention in her one collegiate season with the Eagles.

Haan finished 16th in the 100 backstroke at NCAAs in March. Her best 100 backstroke is a 51.65. At the 2016 ACC Championships, that time would have earned fourth place points. She would have been NC State’s second best performer last February, behind rising senior Alexia Zevnik.

In the 200 backstroke her lifetime best time of 1:54.76 would have finished sixth. The Wolfpack finished second in the conference this year, about 150 points behind the University of Virginia. Haan’s impact should be felt immediately.

For her efforts in her deubt college season, Haan was named CCSA Swimmer of the Year. After winning three individual events (100 and 200 backstroke, 100 freestyle) and four relays at the CCSA Championships in February, Haan was also named Co-Most Outstanding Female Swimmer and Co-Most Outstanding Female Freshman Performer.

Last week, FGCU Head Coach Neal Studd was announced as the new Head Coach at Florida State.
