Eetu Piiroinen Doubles at Finnish Championships

Eetu Piiroinen doubled up on the first night of the Finnish Swimming Championships.

Eetu Piiroinen won the men’s 200-meter free in 1:53.54, while Aleksi Eskelinen took second in 1:54.11.  Anton Herrala placed third in 1:54.41.

Piiroinen then doubled up with an 8:12.22 to win the men’s 800 free.  Roope Lehtonen touched a distant second in 8:33.10 with Juho Gronblom snagging third in 8:35.23.

Nea Norismaa claimed the women’s 200-meter fly title in 2:17.74.  Tanja Ruohoniemi picked up second in 2:19.40 with Yvonne Tollander posting a third-place time of 2:22.18.

Vilma Ruotsalainen won the women’s 400-meter IM in 4:56.74 with Janna Ovaska taking second in 5:01.92.  Anna Kotonen snared third in 5:02.68.

Veera Kivirinta posted a 31.57 to lead the women’s 50-meter breast semis.  Jenna Laukkanen qualified second in 31.71 with Silja Kansakoski posting a third-seeded 32.34.

Christoffer Fredrikson posted a 57.91 to top the men’s 100-meter back semis.  Sergei Haukka (58.14) and Miro Vasko (58.79) qualified second and third.

Matti Mattson clocked a 1:02.85 to lead the men’s 100-meter breast semis.  Andrei Tuomola qualified second in 1:03.66 with Ari-Pekka Liukkonen turning in a third-seeded 1:03.82.

Mimosa Jallow finished just a second off her national record of 1:01.36 with a 1:02.45 in the women’s 100-meter back semis.  Lotta Upanne qualified second in 1:04.23 with Fanny Teijonsalo picking up third in 1:04.46.

Tuomas Pokkinen put up the top time in the men’s 100-meter fly with a 54.23.  Aleksi Schmid qualified second in 55.05.  Tony Eriksson wound up third in 55.76.
