On Saturday May 9, Dynamo Swim Club hosted its Grand Opening Event, naming its Chamblee location in honor of Coach Ray Bussard, former Head Coach of the University of Tennessee. Twenty months of fundraising and construction culminated with Coach Bussard’s wife, Ruth, cutting the ceremonious ribbon at the event. Additionally, the new Dynamo Multisport room was named the “Peter Banks, Richard Quick and Tim Welsh Multisport Room” in a dedication which reinforces the notion that coaching and coaches matter.

Included in the expanded Raymond Arthur Bussard Aquatic Center:
• Additional team locker rooms
• 1000 sq. ft. training room for Dynamo Mulitisport.
• Staff Offices
• Expanded Pro Shop (All-American Swim Supply)
• Expanded Lobby and Entranceway with seating and study tables
• Conference Room with staff locker room
• New Concession ‘Cafe’ with seating for meets and every day activity
• 7000 sq ft Artificial Turf Field for training
• Expanded Weight Room with mondo flooring
• Improved Landscaping with Outdoor Seating
• Parking lot expansion, re-surfacing and re-striping
• Expanded deck space for swim meets
• Designated swim meet seating for spectators only
• Enterprise wifi available throughout facility
• Enhanced natural lighting

This project was made possible through the efforts of Dynamo Swim Club members, Masters swimmers, and Multipsort athletes, the generosity of The Waterfall Foundation, The Whitehead Foundation, and Dynamo partners St. Piux X High School and the City of Chamblee. The Waterfall Foundation and Suzanne and Michael Masters, former Dynamo and Tennessee swimmer, made the project and naming possible with their generous support of Dynamo.

Additionally, many friends of Dynamo contributed to the success of the expansion with substantial donations of money, time, or services. These friends include: Mr. Charles Ginden, Mr. Larry Burns, Courtland Partners, John Phipps Landscape Architecture, Deluxe Athletics, John Bland of Gibbs Landscaping, Allan Heaton, Dynamo Coaches and Staff.
