The final leg of the 2021 Swimming South Africa SSA Grand Prix travels this week to Kings Park Aquatics Centre in Durban May 28-30.

It’s the second installment in the Grand Prix, after a stop at Stellenbosch University in early May, and it adds to South African Nationals in April as part of the country’s multi-tiered chance to qualify for Tokyo.

Among those that will be present are Tatjana Schoenmaker, who will swim the 50, 100 and 200 breaststroke and the 200 freestyle. Matthew Sates, who qualified for the Olympics in the men’s 200 individual medley, could swim up to seven events at the meet, including both butterfly events, several sprint freestyle outings and the 400 IM. Ethan du Perez, who has a qualification time in the 200 fly, will also seek times in the 100 fly as well as the 50, 100 and 800 free.

On the women’s side, Erin Gallagher (100 fly, 50 and 100 free) and Olivia Nel (50 free, 100 back) are also slated to swim.

Heats begin on Friday, May 28. Finals will be held on Saturday and Sunday. Results and live information on the SSA Grand Prix will be posted on www.swimsa.org.
