Dean Farris is one of many swimmers who has had a busy summer and has double-dipped in important events. He represented Team USA at the World University Games (WUGs) earlier this summer, before showing up in California for the 2019 Phillips 66 US National Championships. Similar to Asia Seidt, this meant that Farris had to do a double-taper this summer and it caused him to feel a little uncertain going into some events.

But Farris viewed the entire summer as a learning experience and a chance to re-learn long course swimming. “Obviously long course is a different beast and I’m just trying to figure it out,” he admitted.

Since he will be spending the year training and living in Austin, Farris knows that he doesn’t want to be spending all of his time swimming. He mentioned asking some of the guys he will be training with if he can attend class lectures with them.

“I don’t want to go completely from full on school to nothing. Maybe do a part-time internship, not a full one,” said Farris.
