Davidson vs. William and Mary

WILLIAMSBURG, Virginia, November 13. THE William and Mary Tribe men's swimming and diving team captured a dramatic victory over the Davidson Wildcats on Saturday afternoon in Williamsburg, 121-120. With the win, the Tribe improves its record on the season to 5-1.

Leading the way for the Tribe on the afternoon was junior Stephen Fay, who claimed a pair of individual victories on the day for the College. Fay started his day with a win in the 1,000 free, timing in at 10:01.98. After showing his talent in a distance event, Fay then showed what he could do in the sprints, winning the 100 free with a time of 48.14.

Senior diver Mike Newcomb continues to have a great season for the Tribe, claiming his third win of the season in the 1-meter six dive. Newcomb scored a personal-best 245.25, ranking Newcomb fourth all-time in school history.

Two other swimmers claimed individual wins for the Tribe on the afternoon. Freshman Andrew Strait won his team-leading sixth individual event, touching the wall first in the 200 individual medley. Junior Evan Mulloy rounded out the College's effort, winning the 200 fly with a time of 1:55.84.

The William and Mary Tribe men's swimming and diving team will close out the fall season this week when the College will swim at the always competitive Terrapin Cup Invitational. The three-day meet gets underway on Thursday, November 18 in College Park, Maryland.
