Danish Open: Mads Glaesner, Rikke Moeller Pedersen Open Meet With Quick Times

COPENHAGEN, Denmark, March 31. A pair of world-class times kicked off the initial night of long course action at the Danish Open.

Mads Glaesner jumped to fifth in the world rankings in the men's 400 free with a winning 3:49.12. Anders Lie finished a distant second in 3:56.40, while Frans Johannessen picked up third in 3:59.95.

Lotte Friis dominated the women's 400 free with a triumphant 4:10.50. Amalie Emma Thomsen checked in with a second-place 4:21.22, while Randi Fogh Nielsen wound up third in 4:23.28.

Viktor Bromer topped the men's 200 IM in 2:06.02, while Erik Persson placed second in 2:07.99. Martin Mathiesen finished third in 2:09.08. Katrine Holm Sorensen posted a 2:17.30 to win the women's 200 IM. Julie Leth-Espensen finished second in 2:21.90, while Celine Bertrand pocketed third in 2:21.94.

Andreas Schiellerup cruised to victory in the men's 50 back with a 27.13, while Martin Nilsson took second in 27.70. Mads Sune Rasmussen placed third in 27.88. Ida Lindborg followed with a 29.47 to win the women's 50 back. Cecilie Hansen (30.18) and Josefin Eriksen (30.80) completed the podium.

In semifinal action, Jakob Andkjaer led the men's 100 free with a 49.77, while Jeanette Ottesen posted a 55.25 in the women's 100 free. Mie Nielsen, 15, set a Danish junior record with a second-seeded 56.40 in the women's 100 free. Emil Klingberg paced the men's 100 breast in 1:03.78, while Rikke Moeller Pedersen posted a 1:07.64 in the women's 100 breast, just off her fourth-ranked season best of 1:07.52 from the French Long Course meet.
