PUEBLO, Colo. (September 16, 2016) –  Colorado State University-Pueblo swimming & diving would like to announce the hiring of Matthew Fremling as the Pack’s new diving coach.

Matt Fremling brings a new perspective to CSU-Pueblo diving,” said, Head Swimming and Diving Coach, Brian Pearson. “He is eager and is an accomplished diver internationally. He also has a lot of new ideas and a demeanor that will be conducive to training our athletes.”

Fremling holds certification as a coach through USA Diving. He brings seven years of experience as a diving coach to the Pack.

Most recently, Fremling served as a diving coach at Lake Forest High School in the Chicago, Ill. suburbs. While with Lake Forest High School, Fremling guided divers to the state finals in three consecutive seasons.

Before he coached at Lake Forest, Fremling coached at the Indiana University diving camp for three summers. He has also coached at the Illinois Institute of Technology and Warren Township High School. While working at Warren Township, Fremling produced a state qualifier in two of his three seasons with the Blue Devils.

As an athlete, Fremling spent 12 years as a registered diver with USA Diving. He competed for Deerfield High School and Vincennes University.

Fremling inherits a crew of three divers Stefany Busch (So., Carlsbad, Calif.), Lauren Smith (So., Apopka, Fla.), and Kortney Spencer (Fr., Pueblo, Colo.). These three underclassmen will look to make strides in the program’s second season diving.

Pack Swimming & Diving will begin their season Oct. 14 when they host Adams State University at the Sam Jones Aquatic Center.
