Connor Signorin Sets U.S. National Age Group Distance Record

HIGHTSTOWN, New Jersey, May 14. COMPETING in the 15-year old age group, Peddie sophomore Connor Signorin set a National Distance Swim Record in the 3000-yard freestyle at the Clinton I. Sprout Pool. His time of 28:23.91 broke the previous mark of 29:04.74 established in 1983 by former NCAA champion and Olympian Dan Jorgensen who went 29:04.74.

Signorin's time also cleared both of Jorgensen's 16-year-old and 17-year-old NAG times of 28:45.61 and 28:25.53. Signorin, however, will still have to try again when he ages up to get those records though.

"The swim felt great and easy," said Signorin, who will be attempting to make Olympic Trials in the 1500 meters in June. "I was able to pick up the pace after 500 yards. I knew from the reaction of my teammates that I had it all the way."
