China Tops Preliminary Day of Diving at Worlds
MELBOURNE, Australia, March 20. CHINA posted another dominant day of preliminary diving action at the FINA World Championships in Melbourne, Australia.
Men's One-Meter Prelims
Once again, China reigned in diving with Luo Yutong (466.50) and He Chong (423.30) taking the top two spots in prelims. Luo's top dive, the best of the day, came with a third-round reverse 2.5 somersault from the pike position for 83.20 points.
Meanwhile, Belarus' Siarhei Kuchmasau took third with a 387.75 tally. The top American finish came from Chris Colwill, who took fourth with 387.05 points.

Women's Tower Prelims
China went 1-3 in the 10-meter preliminary competition with Chen Ruolin (400.80) and Wang Xin (366.45) taking first and third, respectively. Mexico's Paola Espinosa split the difference with a second-place 367.15.
Chen's best dive came in the last round with 86.70 points scored from a backward 2.5 somersaults with 1.5 twists from a pike position. The top dive of the day, though, belonged to Wang as she hit the same dive for 91.80 points. The top American finish came from Laura Wilkinson, who placed 16th with 288.00 points.
