Chantal VanLandeghem Concludes 2015 Canada Trials With New Meet Record in the 50 Free

Chantal VanLandeghem closed the 2015 Canada Trials with a new meet record in the women’s 50 free. VanLandeghem finished with a 24.98, a time that ties her for twelfth in the world rankings with Aliaksandra Herasimenia. Michelle Williams finished just .02 seconds behind her with a 25.00 to claim second.

Tabitha Baumann grabbed first in the women’s 800 free with a time of 8:37.94. Taylor Ruck (8:43.40) and Samantha harding (8:46.16) finished close behind.

Audrey Lacroix succeeded in dropping 2.74 seconds from her prelims time to win the women’s 200 fly with a 2:09.22. Noemie Thomas finished second with a 2:11.19, while Jackie Strydom took third with a 2:12.34.

Alec Page led the men in the 200 fly with a finishing time of 1:58.64. He was followed to the wall by Zack Chetrat, who took second with a 1:59.15 and Mack Darragh, who was third with a 2:00.33.

Karl Krug claimed victory in the men’s 50 free with a 22.21, dropping .13 seconds from his prelims time. Krug’s time earned him tenth in the world rankings for the men’s 50, just .04 seconds behind Nathan Adrian and Federico Bocchia’s 22.17.

Also moving up in the world rankings is Sydney Pickrem who finished first in the women’s 200 IM with a time of 2:11.90 earning herself tenth in the world rankings. She was followed to the wall by Erika Seltenreich-Hodgson who was second with a 2:13.15. Kylie Masse touched not far behind with a 2:13.89 for third.

Ryan Cochrane skyrocketed to fifth in the world rankings in the men’s 1500 free with a finishing time of 15:01.41. Cochrane’s time puts him close behind Gabrielle Detti’s fourth-place ranking of 15:00.93.

Kier Maitland was the second place finisher in the men’s 1500 free with a time of 15:12.47, while Jon McKay took third with a 15:22.27.
