CCSA Names Swimmers, Divers of the Week

CHARLOTTE – Georgia Southern senior Elaina Lanson (Wadsworth, Ohio) and Florida Gulf Coast senior Cayla Collins (Largo, Fla.) have been named the CCSA Women’s Swimmer of the Week and Diver of the Week, respectively, while UMBC sophomore Gregor Sporlein (Bamber, Germany) and senior teammate Ryan Green (Ellicott City, Md.) are the CCSA Men’s Swimmer of the Week and Diver of the Week, respectively, it was announced today.

Lanson capped off Senior Day by securing three victories and a pool record to lead the Eagles past the University of North Florida Ospreys. She won the 50 free with a pool record time of 23.26. Additionally, Lanson anchored the 400 medley relay with a split of 51.69, and posted a split 50.75 in the 400 free relay.

Collins claimed a pair of second-place finishes in the diving pool with scores of 274.28 and 295.65 on the 1-meter and 3-meter boards, respectively, in FGCU’s dual meet vs. Florida International.

Sporlein won the 50 free and 100 free sprint events against East Carolina. He won the 50 free with a time of 21.46, just out-touching Shawn Hunter from ECU. In the 100, Sporlein won with a time of 46.48, ahead of teammate Rob Breen.

Sporlein also earned a second-place finish in the 200 free with a time of 1:40.83, and was also a part of the second-place 400 free relay team. He swam the anchor leg that was just out-touched in the final stretch, with a time of 3:04.92.

Green, who qualified for NCAA Zone competition earlier this year, collected wins in the 1- and 3-meter dives against East Carolina. Green won the 1-meter dive with a score of 306.30, a full six points ahead of second-place. He followed that performance with a win in the 3-meter dive with a score of 299.47 to win by 10 points.
