Cammile Adams, Tim Phillips Win on Night Two of Greensboro Sectionals

GREENSBORO – National team members and SwimMAC Carolina teammates Cammile Adams and Tim Phillips each recorded individual wins in the 400 IM and 100 fly, respectively, to highlight the first full night of finals at the Greensboro Sectionals meet at the Greensboro Aquatic Center.

Night two of finals kicked off with the women’s 200 free and featured a great battle between SwimMAC Carolina’s Erika Brown and North Carolina Aquatic Club’s Madison Homovich. The two were neck-and-neck throughout the race and ended up touching in matching 1:47.18s for the victory. In a rare double tie atop the standings, multiple time Olympic medalist Kirsty Coventry, representing SwimMAC Carolina, and teammate Nora McCullagh tied for third in 1:47.58.

In the men’s 200 free final, North Carolina Aquatic Club’s William Macmillan stood alone on the top step of the podium with a 1:37.73 in finals, just ahead of Konstantinos Siokos, who came in at 1:37.96. SwimMAC Carolina’s John Poff claimed third place honors with his 1:38.83.

Lisa Fissneider, competing unattached, swam away with the women’s 100 breast title with a swift 1:00.88, a half second drop from prelims. SwimMAC Carolina’s Caitlin Casazza tracked down second with a 1:01.49, followed closely by Savannah Swim Team’s Elizabeth Roberts in 1:01.60.

Louisville’s Brennen Berger posted the fastest time of the day in the men’s 100 breast final as he clocked a 54.69 to take first place honors. Lanier Aquatics’ Colin Monaghan registered a 55.34 for second, followed by Enfinity Aquatic Club’s Paul Neil in 56.33.

A trio of swimmers broke 54 in the women’s 100 fly final, led by Cardinal Aquatics’ Grace Oglesby in 53.15. SwimMAC Carolina’s Cammile Adams, an Olympian in the 200m fly, came in second in 53.44, while SwimMAC Carolina’s Caitlin Casazza finished on the podium again in back-to-back races with a 53.49.

SwimMAC Carolina’s Tim Phillips popped a 47.22 to win the men’s 100 fly comfortably over North Carolina Aquatic Club’s William Macmillan, who finished in the top three for a second time this evening in 48.51. Metro Atlanta Aquatic Club’s Max Mitchell rounded out the top three in 48.80.

Shortly after finishing second in the 100 fly, SwimMAC Carolina’s Cammile Adams returned to the pool in the 400 IM, cruising to a six second win in 4:07.71. Madison Homovich of North Carolina Aquatic Club made her way onto the podium for a second time tonight with a 4:13.96 for second, while SwimMAC Carolina’s Sara Stranick rounded out the top three finishers in 4:17.76.

Samuel Stewart, swimming unattached, topped the men’s championship final in 3:50.42, with North Carolina Aquatic Club’s Noah Cairns on his heels in 3:52.15. Team Greenville’s Talmadge Davis, last night’s 1000 free champion, stopped the clock at 3:55.98 to finish third.
