Cameron Smith, Keegan Foulke Win 1000 Freestyle During Day One of Federal Way Sectionals

FEDERAL WAY–Night one of the Federal Way Speedo Sectionals is off to a quick start with Cameron Smith of Cascade Swim Club and Keegan Foulke of the Jeffco Hurricanes claiming first in the 1000 freestyle at the King County Aquatics Center.

Smith cruised to first with a 10:04.05. Katherine McDonald of the Jeffco Hurricanes finished second with a 10:09.27 dropping 10.5 seconds from her seed time. Quinn Fawcett of Fort Collins Area Swim Team came in third with a 10:10.51.

Foulke chopped fifteen and a half seconds off his seed time to claim first with a 9:08.11. Aaron Sett of Foothills Swim Team took second with a time of 9:20.97, an eight second time drop from his seed time. King Aquatic Club’s Koppany Kolyvek was third with a 9:26.48.

The Fort Collins Area women’s 800 free relay team of Zoe Bartel (1:50.40), Bailey Nero (1:49.49), Andi Johnston (1:50.23) and Fawcett (1:51.78) dashed to first with a 7:21.90. Bellevue Club was close behind with a 7:25.36 to claim second, while the Jeffco Hurricanes took third with a 7:30.42.

On the men’s side it was the King Aquatic relay team of Mathias Oh (1:39.15), Thomas Anderson (1:38.58), Kolyvek (1:40.96) and Zachary Wagner (1:38.23) who claimed first with a time of 6:36.92. This time also earned them a new Western Sectionals record in the 800 free relay. The Jeffco Hurricanes finished second with a 6:44.90. King Aquatic’s ‘B’ relay took third with 6:46.12.
