Cal’s Isabel Ivey, Destin Lasco Named Pac 12 Swimmers of the Month for December

The University of California’s Isabel Ivey and Destin Lasco were named the Pac 12 men’s and women’s swimmers of the month for December, the conference announced Friday.

Utah’s Lexi Mills is the women’s diver of the month. No male diver of the month was named.

Ivey had a huge meet at the Minnesota Invitational. She won the 200 freestyle and 200 individual medley at the meet and holds top-three times in the nation in both events. She went 1:43.13 in the 200 free and 1:53.90 in the IM. The senior was also second in the 100 free. Ivey helped the Golden Bears post NCAA A cuts in all five relays, each finishing in the top three in Minnesota.

UCLA’s Claire Grover and Utah’s Emma Lawless were also nominated for the women’s award.

Lasco won the men’s 200 backstroke in an NCAA-leading time of 1:39.24 at the Minnesota Invite. He also won the 200 IM in 1:41.53, second fastest in the NCAA this season. The sophomore added a runner-up finish in the 100 back. He swam all five relays, including a silver medal in the 400 free relay and bronze in the 400 medley.

Mills, a junior, finished second in the 3-meter springboard at the Big Al Invitational hosted by Princeton. Her score of 303.25 met the NCAA B standard. She also earned an NCAA B score in the 1-meter event.
