He is now the top seed in the 50 free and has a chance to qualify for an unprecedented fourth individual event. Dressel swam a 21.75 to lead the qualifiers into Saturday’s A-final. Dressel leads veterans Cullen Jones (22.08) and Nathan Adrian (22.19). Adrian won the 100 free on Tuesday night and is going to his fifth World Championships. Jones is trying to qualify for fourth World Championships. Anthony Ervin (22.32) is tied for fifth seed and will be looking to qualify for his fifth World Championships.

Zachary Apple (22.20), Michael Chadwick (22.32), Michael Andrew (22.36) and Ryan Held (22.39) are also in the A-final on Saturday night. Andrew, Held and Jones are the only guys in the field not on the Worlds team yet.
