NEW COMMIT: Claire Russell has announced her verbal commitment to Bryant University. Russell is from Naperville, Illinois where she swims for Wheaton Swim Club and Naperville North High School, where she is a team captain.

Russell said of her decision,

“I am so excited to announce my verbal commitment to swim at Bryant University! It has everything that I am looking for. Bryant has an excellent business school that will set me up for success upon graduation and a strong competitive swim team that is close in and out of the pool. Coach Katie, Coach Jerry, and the entire swim team were so welcoming right from the start. I can’t wait to be a part of the Bulldog family. GO BULLDOGS!!”

Russell is an Illinois Senior Championships state finalist and a Central Zone Sectionals qualifier. A distance swimmer, her best times are:

  • 1650 Free 17:37.02
  • 1000 Free 10:31.43
  • 500 Free 5:09.35
  • 200 Free 1:59.65

At last year’s NEC Championships, Russell would have finished sixth in the 1650. Bryant had swimmers touch third, fourth, and seventh. Her best 500 free time would have earned Russell a spot in the B final.

Also verbally committed to the Bulldogs’ Class of 2022 are Alyvia Beaudoin and Sara Gendron.
