Bryant Swimming & Diving Adds Three to Coaching Staff

Bryant Swimming & Diving Coach Katie Cameron has introduced Brian Keane and Aimee Bourassa as assistant coaches for the 2019-2020 season. Aidan Devers was also added as a graduate assistant for the team.

Keane and Bourassa bring an abundance of experience as both coaches and athletes to the Bulldogs’ program. Devers is a recent graduate of Central Connecticut State University where she achieved a range of swimming successes.

“We are thrilled to welcome our new staff for the 2019-20 season,” said Cameron. “The new staff is balanced, versatile, passionate and knowledgeable which will allow us to connect with each athlete and continue with the winning culture we have been creating.”

Keane joins the Bryant Swimming & Diving staff after two years as the assistant coach at Babson College.

“He has a great personality and passion for the sport,” said Cameron. “Keane has worked with great head coaches as an athlete and a coach. I am excited for what he will bring to the program.”

Keane was a part of two seasons at Babson where there was 21 school records broken. He also helped lead the team to the largest point total in program history at the 2019 NEWMAC Championships.

In addition to collegiate coaching, Keane has been coaching at Kingfish Swimming since 2015. He coached the 2017 New England 15-18 Age Group Champions and a number of swimmers who have went on to swim at various Division I schools across New England.

Prior to Kingfish, Keane also coached at the Black Rock Country Club where he served as head swim coach from 2010-2015.

Keane graduated from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County in 2015 where he was a five-year program member and senior captain for the Division I squad. While at UMBC, he helped the team win the 2011 and 2013 America East Conference Championships. Following his last eligible season, Keane remained in the program as a team manager while completing his degree.

Aimee Bourassa

Bourassa was previously an assistant coach at Bryant while completing her graduate degree from 2008 to 2010. She comes back to the Black and Gold after multiple USA Swimming coaching stops across the country.

“We are excited to welcome Coach Aimee back to the Bryant Swimming & Diving family. She was an awesome graduate assistant for us 10 years ago,” said Cameron. “She has a great presence on the deck that I know the team will love. She is passionate about our success and will help us to keep moving in the direction we need to be to be conference champions.”

Most recently, Bourassa was a coach at the South Jersey Aquatic Club. While at SJAC, she coached multiple new team record holders and junior Olympic champions.

Bourassa was also a coach for three seasons with the Springfield YMCA Typhoons where she coached state and national champions, as well as a future Olympic gold medalist.

Before her time at Bryant, Bourassa was an assistant coach at Binghamton University after completing her undergraduate degree at the University of Massachusetts. At UMass, Bourassa was a four-year varsity swimmer and rower, a multiple Atlantic-10 medalist and captain her senior year.

Aidan Devers

Devers graduated from Central Connecticut in May where she was a four-year member of the swim and dive program and senior captain for the NEC squad. While at CCSU, Devers helped the team win the 2016 and 2017 NEC Championships where she ended with a number of first place finishes.

“We are elated that Aidan is coming on board with us,” said Cameron. “Aidan had a great swimming career and is very enthusiastic about sharing her experiences with us.”

At the 2016 NEC Championships, Devers placed first in the 200-yard backstroke and was a part of the 800 free relay team that set a new school and NEC record. In 2017, she took home first in the 500 free as well as the 400 IM which also set a new school record.

As a captain in 2019, Devers led her team to a second place finish at the NEC Championships in which they fell behind Bryant.

“Aidan obviously knows the NEC well and will be able to guide our student-athletes in what it takes to get the job done. We are excited for her energy level and leadership.”

The Bulldogs kick off their season at Boston College on Oct. 11.
