British Long Course University Championships: Loughborough Sweeps Men’s and Women’s Titles

SHEFFIELD, Great Britain, February 13. THE British Long Course University Championships ended with Loughborough winning both the men's and women's team titles.

The men tallied 193 points to win ahead of Stirling (180) and Bath (147). The women amassed 198 points with Bath (125) and Nottingham (118) comprising the rest of the top three.

Jessica Dickons claimed the women's 200 fly in 2:12.25, while Tilly Gray placed second in 2:14.53. Kirsty Armstrong finished third in 2:15.65. Roberto Pavoni followed in the men's 200 fly with a 2:00.32. Joe Roebuck finished just behind in second with a 2:00.41, while Adam Mallett took third in 2:01.58.

Jess Sylvester captured the women's 100 free in 56.32, while Caitlin McClatchey touched second in 56.80. Rachel Lefley earned third in 57.02. Liam Tancock charted a 50.75 for the men's 100 free win. Jak Scott and Richard Schafers tied for second with matching 52.18s.

Katheryn Johnston secured the women's 100 breast crown in 1:12.63, while Charlotte Barnes finished second in 1:13.13. Katie Raybould placed third in 1:13.19. Michael Jamieson won the men's 100 breast in 1:02.54, while Laurent Carnol touched second in 1:03.02. Douglas Scott rounded out the top three in 1:04.77.

Kate Hutchinson dominated the women's 200 IM in 2:16.33, while Katie Ambridge finished second in 2:21.43. Katrina Alder posted a 2:22.58 for third. Roebuck moved from second in the men's 200 fly to a win in the men's 200 IM with a 2:03.29. Lewis Smith (2:06.19) and Adam Harrington (2:06.75) completed the podium.

Jodie Le Resche hit the wall in 27.86 to win the women's 50 fly, while Rachel Haigh took second in 28.22. Ambridge took her second podium of the night with a third-place 28.57. Jack Marriott stopped the clock in 24.49 for the men's 50 fly triumph. James Doolan (24.95) and Tom Laxton (25.21) placed second and third.

Georgia Davies won the women's 100 back in 1:01.69, while Lefley placed second in 1:02.39. Katy Venters earned third in 1:04.95. Ryan Bennett touched out Calum Jarvis, 57.17 to 57.18, in the men's 100 back. Jonathan Carlisle wound up third in 57.81.

Roebuck finished the night with his third podium when he clocked a 2:03.29 to win the men's 200 IM. Lewis Smith (2:06.19) and Adam Harrington (2:06.75) made up the rest of the top three.
