Breaststroke? No Problem for Emma Sougstad (Morning Swim Show)

PHOENIX – Emma Sougstad joins today’s edition of The Morning Swim Show to discuss her transistion to breaststroke, being Big 10 Swimmer of the Week, and her admiration of Sandra Bullock.

Sougstad also discusses the difference in training breasstroke as opposed to the butterfly & IM, the Hawkeyes’ incredible facilities and the other sports she played in high school.

Emma is the Hawkeye record holder in the 100-breast (1:00.90), ranks third in the 200-IM (2:01.41) and seventh in the 100-fly (55.49). Emma swam on the record-setting 400-medley relay (3:39.54), has the third and fifth-fastest time in the 200-free relay, the fifth-best time in the 400-medley relay, and the seventh-fastest 200-medley relay time.

In high school, Emma was a ten-time All-American, 11-time first team all-state honoree, three-time second team all-state honoree. Earned All-America honors in 200 IM, 100 fly, 100 free, 50 free, and 100 breast as a senior, in 100 fly and 200 IM as a junior, and in 100 fly, 200-medley relay and 200-free relay as a freshman.
