Brazil’s Vinicius dos Santos Silva Draws Two Year Doping Ban

LAUSANNE – Brazilian swimmer Evandro Vinicius dos Santos Silva drew a two-year doping ban from the Brazilian Swimming Federation as announced by FINA today.

Silva tested positive for Methyltestosterone and Chlortalidone, a steroid and a diuretic, during an in-competition test at the Jose Finkel Trophy meet in Sao Paulo, Brazil.  The test took place on Sept. 3, 2014 with the two-year ban date starting on Oct. 14. Silva took third in the 400 IM at the Jose Finkel Trophy meet.

Silva, who had competed collegiately in the U.S. at the University of the Incarnate Word, has appealed the suspension.
