Bonner, Driesler Inducted Into Lady Volunteer Hall of Fame

KNOXVILLE, Tennessee, September 7. TRACY Bonner and Karla (Driesler) McQueen each earned induction into the University of Tennessee Lady Volunteer Hall of Fame on Wednesday as the program selected its sixth group of inductees.

Bonner, an All-American diver for the Lady Vols from 1993-97, now performs with the prestigious Cirque du Soleil in Las Vegas, Nev. Bonner joined Cirque's "O" show at the Bellagio Hotel and has also performed with the act's Russian Swing and Aerial Hoops segments.

In college, Bonner won the NCAA three-meter championship in 1995 after winning the event at the Southeastern Conference Championships that year. She went on to win the one-meter SEC title in 1997. Additionally, Bonner claimed a gold medal in three-meter synchronized diving from 1997-99.

The 10-time All-American earned Academic All-America honors in 1994 and was a member of the USA Diving World Championship Team in 1994.

Dr. McQuain, an All-American swimmer from 1984-87, is a psychologist practicing in Nashville, Tenn.

The two-time SEC champion with a win in the 50-yard freestyle in 1986 and a victory in the 200-yard medley relay in 1987, earned six All-American certificates during her tenure on Rocky Top. In 1997, she garnered another Hall of Fame accolade with induction into the Tennessee Swimming Hall.

Athletes are eligible for inclusion 10 years after they have graduated from the University, while administrators may be admitted to the Lady Volunteer Hall of Fame five years following their last service to UT. Each of these outstanding individuals exemplifies the true spirit of the Tennessee Lady Volunteers.

Enshrinement activities are scheduled for Friday evening (Sept. 22) at The Knoxville Convention Center, where a private induction ceremony will be held at 6 p.m. A full day follows on Sat., Sept. 23, when the Hall of Famers will meet with the current athletes and staff of their respective former Lady Vol teams. Later that day, the celebration moves to Neyland Stadium, where the honorees will be saluted during the Tennessee versus Marshall homecoming football game. Kick-off is slated for 4 p.m.
