As we approach the weekend we are yet again presented with exciting, fast swimming around the Big 12 Conference. Check below for a closer look at today’s action.

Texas vs. Arizona State

The University of Texas women’s swimming and diving teams continued their perfect season with a victory over Arizona State University with a score of 177-122. The Longhorn men fell the ASU with a score of 162-138. For a recap of the men’s meet, click here.

The lady Longhorns won 13 out of 16 total events tonight, which included the very first event, the 200 medley relay, where quartet of sophomore Claire Adams, juniors Olivia Anderson and Remedy Rule and senior Rebecca Millard took the win in a time of 1:40.30.

Joanna Evans continued the Longhorn momentum with a victory in the 1000 freestyle with a swift 9:53.29. Right after Anderson nabbed the 200 freestyle in a quick 1:47.70.

Backstroke leader Adams took the win in the 100 backstroke with an NCAA ‘B’ cut time of 53.22, before she topped the field in the 100 freestyle with her 45.58.

Continuing the winning tradition, Lauren Case took a win in the 200 butterfly with a sub-2:00 time of 1:59.42 while Quinn Carrozza swam a 1:56.26 for the win in the 200 backstroke.

Evie Pfeifer snuck by the rest of the field in the 500 freestyle with her 4:51.21.

Kansas vs. Arkansas

The Jayhawks from Kansas University were defeated by the Razorbacks from The University by a score of 180-120.

KU did take a few wins, despite the large loss. Their first win came in the 200 medley relay with the quartet of freshman Manon Manning, sophomores Haley Downey, Hayley Bishop and freshman Lauryn Parrish posted a 1:43.36, about a half-second ahead of Arkansas’ ‘A’ squad.

Parrish took the 200 freestyle in a swift time of 1:50.89, which was enough to get by teammate, Jenny Nusbaum who put togehter a 1:51.98.

Backstroke-superstar Manning nabbed the 100 backstroke where she narrowly missed the pool record with her time of 54.78 while Bishop posted a 2:01.43 in the 200-yard butterfly, which was good enough for the win.

KU Head Coach Clark Campbell told KU Communications he is “really excited, however, because in a month, we won’t be as tired, and that comes right in time for the Big 12 Championships – we should be swimming pretty quick.”

Up next for the Jayhawks will be a two-day dual with conference rival Iowa State.

TCU vs. North Texas

The Texas Christian University women’s swimming and diving teams fell to North Texas by a score of 202-98.

Despite the wide margin of loss, the Horned Forgs were able to secure two victories. Those victories came in the 100 butterfly where Catherine Maxey took the win in a 57.43 and in the 100 freestyle where Claire Munster swam to the win in a 52.33.

Up next for TCU is a one-day dual with Texas next weekend.
