Jared Fitzgerald has given a verbal commitment to swim at Indiana University. Fitzgerald is a member of the Bahamas National Team. He moved to the United States from the Bahamas to “pursue a better education and better training” and has spent his high school career at Peddie School.

Fitzgerald is a sprint freestyler and a breaststroker. His best 100 yard freestyle is a Winter Juniors cut 45.18. He has also been a 21.20 in the 50. Last season the senior dropped over a second in the 100 freestyle. In 2015 Fitzgerald went a lifetime best time of 58.08 in the 100 breaststroke.

Fitzgerald told Swimming World,

I chose Indiana because after my visit I felt a great connection with the team, and the coaching staff. The coaches are very nice, and they believe in my potential and my dreams. The team environment is exactly what I was looking for in a University, and I know that I will fit in very well with the team. I’m very excited to begin my collegiate swimming career next fall as a Hoosier!”
