Australian Travis Nederpeldt Announces Retirement

PERTH, Australia, May 18. AUSTRALIAN Olympian Travis Nederpeldt announced his retirement from swimming today, according to Swimming Australia.
Nederpeldt, 26, failed in his quest to qualify for the 2012 Olympic team when he finished fourth in the 400 IM and fourth in the 200 fly at the Australian Olympic Trials.
Nederpelt competed for Australia at the 2004 and 2008 Olympics. His best Olympic finish was eighth in the 400 individual medley in 2004 (4:20.08). His first international competition was at the 2003 world championships in the 200 fly. He would go on to compete at more world championships, as well as the Pan Pacific championships.
